My Top 5 Favorite NES Games (Emulator Links Included)

The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is the first gaming console I ever played. The system was actually my Father’s, but that didn’t stop me from playing it. At the time, being so young and inexperienced in the gaming world, I used to enjoy watching my Dad play the games more than actually playing them myself because he would be able to get farther in them than I could. Since then, I have gone back and beaten a good majority of my NES library and today I am going to go through my top 5 favorite games (Links to emulators have been included below):
1. Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! – To this day, this is still my favorite boxing game of all time. I don’t know if its just nostalgia, but there is something about this game that is just not present in games of today’s era.
2. Super Mario Bros. – Everybody has played this one and I couldn’t make a list like this without including it.
3. Contra – I still haven’t beaten the NES version without the classic 30 lives cheat code (I have beaten the arcade version), but it is still one of the greatest co-op games the console has to offer.
4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game – Speaking of great co-op games, this one cannot be forgotten. Being a huge turtles and Nintendo fan, this game is a must have.
5. Donkey Kong – An arcade classic ported onto the NES home console and while I personally enjoyed Donkey Kong 64 more (because I was older), the original Donkey Kong is probably one of the first games that made me love gaming in the first place.
Note: These are just my top five favorite games and is solely my opinion. Tell me about your favorite games in the comments below!
